A group of 11 Junior College students participated in the Junior College Research Attachment Programme from 23 November to 23 December 2009. The objective of the attachment is to expose the students to research culture and to gain insights into the scientific area that is beyond their school curriculum.
At the end of their 5 week attachment in IME, the students presented their project findings in a poster sharing session held on 22 December 2009. 8 project posters were presented and our senior researchers, Dr Tan Chee Wei, Dr Kevin Chai and Ms Ji Hong Miao were invited to judge the posters.
The best poster was presented by Janel Chua (NUS High School of Mathematics & Science) and Wang Han (National JC) titled "Electrostatic MEMS Micro-Mirrors". The objectives of the project were to study the working principle of electrostatic MEMS micro-mirrors and to analysis the various parameters influencing the mechanical stability of the micro-mirrors.
